I mentioned the other day that as I could, I’d love to share some of the projects that I’ve been lucky to work on over the last couple months. Today, I get to share the first with you…
I’ve got a jewelry project in an upcoming book!
I never thought I’d be a part of a real, honest-to-God published book before. Of all of the dreams I had growing up, or even recently, writing or being a part of a book was not really one of them. That was always something other people did.
So, imagine my surprise when my good friend Lori Anderson approached me last year about a book project she was putting together. It was going to be based off of her Bead Soup blog hops, and she was asking designers to exchange beads and create a project for it. There were no guarantees which projects the editors would go for, but Lori invited me to take part.
Talk about a big invitation walking right into my life.
I was a little nervous, to be honest with you. This was new and different, and I had some ideas of the other contributors’ work – how would mine compare? Plus, I had a little bit of a struggle with feeling like a fraud; even back then, I had some sense that selling jewelry was coming to an end for me.
Still, though, the more I thought about it, the more fun it sounded, and frankly, I had the easy part! Lori’s the one who had the idea, made the pitch, invited the people, coordinated the projects, put it all together, and sent it off. She’s the one who’s been the point person for the publisher and for the participating designers. All while taking care of herself, her family, and her own business, too.
She is, quite simply, amazing. And I’m totally proud to have contributed a small part to her book.
Bead Soup isn’t due out till later this year, but when I know more, I’ll share it here. For the time being, you can read more about it from Lori, and the other contributors are listed down below.
