I’m at that point of winter where I’m completely uninspired by everything around me.
I’ve been taking a few self-paced photo classes and honestly, I’ve been meandering through them. This has very little to do with the material I’m learning, and more about me losing focus and letting a case of the uninspireds get me down.
Anyway, I’ve been reading and pinning and collecting inspiration photos to help me through, but one source in particular gave me pause yesterday. Have you heard of Miss B from Besotted Brand Blog?
I’ve been a reader of hers for several years now. A dose of cuteness, a dash of really exceptional styling, and lovely photography? Yes, please. This year, she’s tackling a really intense 365 day photo challenge, which she’s dubbed Project MXII – instead of taking photos once a day for a year, she’s going to be editing a photo once a day for a year.
I love editing more than is probably normal, but wow. That’s ambitious.
So, I challenged myself to take a photo and play with the edits today, for the sheer sake of editing and in honor of Miss B. I don’t think I’ll be jumping on the 365 editing bandwagon any time soon, but it was a fun exercise just to get me doing something versus just browsing around staring at stuff I want to be doing.
It was also nice to just play with textures and tweaks. I’ve been getting into the hazy photo look lately, but didn’t have the guts to try it on a photo of mine. That’s one thing I can check off the list!
What about you – do you have a favorite edit?
To see more of Miss B’s work, you can visit her blog, her Flickr, or stop by her shop.
Photo taken by me and my lovely 50mm lens, edited with Florabella Actions and Kim Klassen’s Revolution texture.

Wow – you’re right, her photos are amazing!! I don’t know how to edit a thing – what you see in my pics is what I see when they’re downloaded onto the computer! LOL!!
(well I can lighten, crop and size them – does that count?)

I know, right? She’s very humble by her work, but some of her edits are flat out amazing. I also like following along because it makes me feel better about the photos I take, too!
That IS ambitious! As for my favorite photo manipulation, I think I’m too much of a newbie to have a favorite yet. I like to play around with texture, that’s for certain, but other things, too.

There is a special place in my heart for textures, definitely!
My knowledge on photography is closer to none, but I love seeing all these amazing photos taken by my bloggy friends! They’re pretty amazing.
Keep on clickin’, Brandi

Thanks, Sweaty! Appreciate you!
Okay, would it be too boring to say that I love a simple B&W edit??
A classic, right?

No, not at all! I think B&W is so very classic, you know?
Beautiful edit. Your blog is so pretty Brandi!

Thanks Stasha! I appreciate you stopping by!
This is such a beautiful edit – I’m finding myself quite mesmerised by it like it’s moving in the breeze. I’m a huge fan of vintage inspired edits, which is strange in this day of modern photography and crystal images that I get nostalgic for photos that look like the ones from my childhood. I really love the wishwish actions http://wishwishwish.net/2011/07/wishwishwish-photoshop-actions/ – subtle. Can’t wait to see more of your edits.

Thank you, Libby!
I like the vintage-look, too. For a while, all I did for a vintage look was to desaturate it and add brown. Now, I’m exploring other ways to make it look vintage – different colors, etc. It’s been fun!
The wishwish actions look awesome! It didn’t say it explicitly, but I’m assuming it’s just for regular PS?
