I have a not-so-secret-anymore secret obsession with business cards. I love them. I love looking at them, I love putting them together, I love collecting them. I particularly love it when I come across a clever design – what a way to stand out from the crowd, and so quickly, too.
Or, if following my monthly theme of invitation, what a pretty way to invite more contact. Yeah, I know, that was kind of cheesy. But still true, especially at networking events or opportunities. A business card sets a tone, and everybody’s attracted to good design.
In my personal life, I tend to go for flat printed cards to cut down on costs, but I’d love a little extra pop someday. Letterpress, maybe, or painted sides. Some kind of wow factor. I recently ordered some Moo mini cards, and they didn’t turn out quite like I expected (through no fault of Moo – it was clearly a design issue. I must have been exhausted when I decided to order because I forgot a few key things), so I’ve got business cards on the brain.
How about you? Have a favorite business card design? Any suggestions on what to do with the piles of defunct business cards I’ve got sitting in a drawer, besides recycling them?

I’m in the middle of placing an order with Moo… middle being that it will probably take me 2 weeks to get back to finalise the order…. I’ve had my details updated (to include pinterest & focus more on my blog rather then more store).
I’m going to try the Moo Lux cards, the new ones with the edge colour. I just wish they had more colour options for those. I’m a bit stuck on what colour to get. I might write to them and beg for more colours (purple and green in particular).
I haven’t tried the mini cards, although I’ve been tempted to use them as a swing tag for my products in the past.

I feel you, Jeanie – I always feel like deciding on business cards is such a big decision.
I tried the Mini Moos waaay back when they first came out. They were fun, but such an odd size. I tried them again a couple weeks ago, and I still can’t wrap my head around them – I guess I’m a traditionalist at heart! Though they would absolutely be fun for tags!
Let me know how you like the Moo Luxe – I like the look of it, but I’m so cheap, lol.
I love business cards too! I would love to have some absolutely fabulous letterpress ones made someday. I love the feel of moos. I have mini moos and am almost out. Need to get a few more. I have the mini moos frame and I have my favorites I get from other artists in there. Send me yours and it will go in the frame! I like the new moo luxe cards. I have also seen some really cool ones that are made from a thin brushed metal or a thin veneer of wood. Really cool. I think that they can be like mini works of art! I love cleverness when I see it and I have a card file that I keep them in sorted by type of business so that I can come back to them when I am looking for just the right thing. And of course I just wrote on Earrings Everyday about using a stock design on Vistaprint for my new look, and even though it is stock I still love it!
Enjoy the day!

I would totally send you a Mini Moo, Erin, but I really don’t like the way they turned out. Such a shame, too, because I liked the look of them on my computer. If I get them redone, I’ll over some!
And yeah, I love those thin veneer looking cards, or the ones with interesting shapes and cutouts!
I too am a business card collector! Love them, and love the collection you’ve put together. Oh, to one day have a reason to invest in some bright letterpress cards featuring fab colours!
I am also a fan of the mini Moo – love that waxy paper and the size/shape is pretty great too. Though I always seem to order them a week before I change something. Which is probably a good indicator that I need to focus/plan/stick to one thing a bit better…

I love that there are more business card collectors out there than I thought! And yeah, letterpress one day, with thick cardstock that feels good and sturdy to my fingers and saturated colors – that sounds like an awesome card!
And I do that same thing, too! I’ve ordered cards right before I changed the design. That’s partly why I’ve got a nice collection of defunct cards sitting around. I once bought 1000 business cards, then a month later changed my branding. I will never buy that many again, unless I’m going to a conference or something, because I think I only used 200. Such a waste…
I love stationery! Can’t ever get enough of them! Personalized, of course
Amazing how creative all of the business cards these days, huh? They’re eye-catching and can be quite collectable in their own right.

I’m so floored by what people think up! So creative!
I love these, especially the one that says, “Hi, I’m Jason.” I am heading over to bookmark that for the next time I need to place an order. Thanks!

That one caught my eye, too! I love that it’s so casual, yet professionally designed. Definitely inspiring to see!
What a great round up of business cards….I especially like the first few that are especially colorful. I believe it was Victoria magazine that featured beautiful business cards – I always enjoyed that section. I was just looking at my card today actually and I still like it. I’m still happy with it after so many years.
I must be the last person on earth that hasn’t ordered Moo cards yet…. what am I waiting for? I’ll have to check out the new luxe design!

The Mini Moos are fun – the best part is each of the 100 cards in the pack can have a different photo on it. There are other printers, like Overnightprints.com, that offer a half business card size, but Moo’s the only one to offer different photos on each card front. Still, if you’ve got a craft show with lots of things that need to be tagged, I can see ordering a bunch of that size card for tags.
I love the letterpress cards. Although I’m sure I’d lose business because I wouldn’t want to give them away! I saw the Moo Luxe cards and they looked intriguing but the Swoon cards really do need to be swooned over. Thanks for sharing.
