Bike Alarm by dringdring

A couple of weeks ago, Shannon blogged about falling off of a bicycle, and I commented then that I’ve fallen off a bicycle before back in college, too. I tried to get fancy while jumping a curb, completely forgetting that I don’t have a whole lot of coordination or balance, nor am I an accomplished cyclist. The results were predictably clumsy. I hit a pillar thing, and almost cracked my head open.

I haven’t been back on a bike since because clearly, I can’t be trusted with anything that requires coordination or balance or, you know, movement. See Monday’s post for more recent evidence.

I might reconsider, though, just so I’d have a reason to buy a pretty bike bell, like the ones dringdring makes. Aren’t they fun? So very Spring and Summer. Not only are they bright and colorful, they are handmade in Montreal then carefully painted with eco-friendly paint. What’s not to love?

Since I don’t have a bike anymore, much less trust myself on one, do you think it be weird of I just carried a dringdring bell around, randomly ringing it?

  1. I was going to suggest that you buy one any way — put it in your studio. Ring in whenever you finish a piece of jewelry!

  2. Oh, I don't know… you could become known as the "crazy lady with the bike bell and no bike". I mean, it would only be truly crazy if you were wearing a bike helmet while doing it, right?
    You make me smile 😉

    Enjoy the day!

  3. These are so fun! The bells were always boring looking when I was a child. It would not be strange at all for you to walk around with one of these adorable bells! People may look at you funny though. LOL ~Val

  4. Those are so cute, I've been dreaming of a bicycle for forever. Hope you get back on it! 🙂

  5. Maybe you could attach one to a wide wrist band. I could see this being useful in shopping malls and grocery stores. You might even start a trend. It could go viral.

  6. Oh, those bike bells are the bomb! And we literally just got a tandem bike a week ago!!!!! Might just have to get one of these to go with it!

Thanks for all the post love today, I really, really appreciated your comments and shout outs on Twitter 🙂

  7. I love these! My husband and I got bikes last summer and I hadn't been on one since I was a teenager. So far no spills, but I'm definitely apprehensive and sort of slow. He makes fun of me relentlessly for it.

  8. I have an AWESOME bike bell. It's a green and orange monster. We HAVE to have bells on all bikes here in MD and DC.
